Sequel?

Posted by Cevox Aug. 17, 2010 @ 1:36 PM EDT

As the title suggests I am thinking of making a sequel to a game of mine, the one I just submitted yesterday. I think I should make a sequel because it seems to have done fairly well (in my opinion) and a lot of people mentioned how it was a 'good start', so if I continued it and added things that made it more fun I think people will enjoy it even more. This time though, I am going to finish it without a tutorial!
It shouldn't take that long to finish, although i expect it to take at least a week, I plan to remake quite a bit of the sloppy code I made.

I am not exactly sure what I should add though . . . The first thing that I just finished is a preloader which will probably be appreciated. Other than that I only know that I plan for it to be a vertical scrolling shooter with better art. I chose vertical scrolling just because I wanted something a bit new, and I think I will be able to draw better if I do it like that.
The main reason the art wasn't that good was because I didn't spend much time on it, I drew it and didn't really think of making it look too good. This time however, I plan to make things look quite a bit different than it did last time.
I am starting to get a little idea of what to do, I think this time I will have multiple levels (probably only like 3 or 5) and a better looking background. Hmmm . . . I might think of adding upgrades you can buy with your points maybe? Only really health upgrades though . . . maybe you will be able to shoot more bullets with upgrades.

Anyway, I guess I have some thinking to do so I will say goodbye for now. Look forward to a sequel to "Shoot-Em-Up".
